一年嘅夏天比一年熱，今年7-8月甚至有接近一個月嘅時間都有酷熱警告，真係好hot呀！原來hot可以用嚟形容熱之外，仲可以形容內心感受或者表現！
今日就學下hot嘅各種用法啦！
1. Hot and bothered
對某件事感到焦慮或憤怒
John was hot and bothered about the new neighbors making all the noise every night last week.
John嘅新鄰居上星期每晚都發出噪音，令佢好煩躁。
2. Be in hot water
有如置身熱水中，陷入困境，惹上麻煩
Sally is in hot water with her parents for sneaking out the other night.
Sally惹上麻煩了，佢前幾日偷走出去，驚爸爸媽媽會處罰佢。
3. Hot on the trail
就來搵到某個人或某件事
She is hot on the trail of finding the person who stole her credit card.
佢好快就會搵到個個偷佢信用卡的人。
4. Go like hotcakes
東西熱銷
The day after thanksgiving, TV sets go like hotcakes. The shelves are empty by noon!
感恩節之後個日的電視機銷量暴增，貨架係中午前已經空晒。
5. In the hot seat
處於高壓艱難的困境
Mark is in the hot seat this week.
Mark今個禮拜承受好大壓力，處境艱難。
6. Not so hot
不太好，例如工作、食物或者身體
The restaurant we went last night wasn’t so hot.
我地琴晚去個間餐廳唔係幾好。
