1. A lot on my plate 形容同一時間要完成很多事情
This week will be very busy as I have a lot on my plate.
我這週將會很忙,因為有很多事情要完成。
2. Call on the carpet 形容被上級/有權勢的人譴責
Did you see Sam walking to the manager room? I guess the manager is going to call him on the carpet.
你看到Sam走到經理的房間了嗎? 我猜經理是要譴責他。
3. Armchair Critic 形容說話浮誇,不切實際的人
Don’t invite him to be our group members! He is an armchair critic.
別邀請他成為我們的小組成員! 他只會說不會做。
4. Bring the curtain down 形容結束某一件事
Tell him what has happened! It’s time to bring the curtain down.
告訴他發生了什麼事吧!是時候結束此事了。
5. Bring to the table 形容作出貢獻或提議
We should recruit Andy as he has been working in this industry for over 10 years. He will bring a lot of experience to the table.
我們應該要招聘Andy,他已經在這個行業從事了超過十年,會為我們帶來很多經驗。
6. Brush under the carpet 試圖忽視/隱藏某一東西
That company tries to brush its financial issues under the carpet to mislead the shareholders of having a healthy financial statement.
那家公司試圖隱藏它的財政問題,以誤導股東擁有良好的財務報表。
