“I”, “my”, “we”, “us”等第一人稱都要盡量避免在formal writing中使用。 所以如非必要,“I think”、”In my opinion”等這類開頭都可以省略,令文句更精簡,或轉用passive voice “It is believed that”去代替。
e.g.
I believe that active video games are beneficial for youngsters.
→ Active video games are beneficial for youngsters.
→ It is believed that active video games are beneficial for youngsters.
It’s“、”isn’t”、“I’m”,更便捷表達自己所想。
e.g.
It’s my pleasure to be invited as the guest today.
→ It is my pleasure to be invited as a guest today.
e.g.
Athleisure has emerged as the new mainstream fashion style that reflects the changing lifestyle of people.
→ The emergence of athleisure reflects the changing lifestyle of people.
e.g.
We must deal with the problems by starting the campaign.
→ We must handle the problems by launching the campaign.
