以前讀書背生字背到面都青，出到來做嘢，先知原來好多背左嘅字都係屬於正式（formal）用語，如果開口埋開都係講 「increase」、「delay」同 「represent」, 好容易比人覺得你「死古古」。
適當地運用以下片語動詞，既casual又大方，今次仲唔飛甩老土！
1. Cause > Bring about 引起
The new policy has brought about a lot of changes in the HR Department.
2. Bother > Get on someone’s nerves 使人心煩
The way she talks to the customers has really got on my nerves.
3. Discover > Find out 找出、查明
I only found out that the meeting had been cancelled when I got to the office this morning.
4. Delay > Put off 延後
The meeting has been put off for a week.
5. Decrease > Go down下降
Sales went down from $50M to $45M last month.
6. Increase > Go up上升
Sales went up from $45M to $50M last month.
7. Indicate > point out 指出
He pointed out that cost effectiveness was the priority.
8. Omit > leave out 除去
A lot of the details about the incident was left out from the report.
9. Oppose > go against 反對
My supervisor won’t go against the Board of Directors, if they refuse to give the green light to the project.
10. Represent > stand for 代表
“VIP” stands for Very Important Person.
