Today we’re going to look at some simple questions and sentences we often use when we are in a restaurant.
At the reception we can say:
Hi, good evening. We have a reservation under Tim, please.
This tells people the name that was used when making the reservation.
We can also clarify the number of people by saying:
It’s for a table for 4 people.
When ordering we can ask to see if the main course comes with a certain side dish:
Is this served with a salad or fries on the side?
We can order by saying:
We’d like to order the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, the Classic Burger and 2 soups of the day.
We can end our order by saying:
That’s everything for now. Thanks.
If there is a mistake with your order we can say:
Excuse me, but we didn’t order that.
If the orders are taking too long we can say:
Excuse me, we’ve been waiting for a long time. Could you help us check our order?
When we would like to pay we can say:
Could we have the bill, please?
If you would like to check if the restaurant accepts credit cards you can say:
Do you take credit cards?
