Hi there! I am Tim, from Wall Street English.
December is finally here, and in Hong Kong this is the first month which you may actually feel cold outdoors. Although Hong Kong isn’t as cold as many other cities, due to its high humidity it can get quite chilly. Here are a few pieces of winter clothing you should have ready in your closet.
Let’s begin with my favourite, hoodies.
A hoodie is a sweatshirt with a hood. I personally like the zip-up ones, but the pull-over ones are just as good. The hood is great for keeping your head and ears warm. Hoodies are so comfortable that it’s also seen worn a lot at home.
If hoodies are too casual for you, you may also consider winter sweaters. Without the hood you can wear them for more formal occasions.
And since Christmas is just around the corner. You’ve got to get yourselves an ugly Christmas sweater to truly enjoy your Christmas. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, just do a Google search on “Ugly Christmas Sweaters” and you’ll understand.
When it comes to winter jackets, down jackets are the best. In case you didn’t know, down feathers are found under the outer layer of tough feathers from geese and ducks. Depending on the look and style of your choice, you have many options to choose from. My personal favourite is the Parka, a long winter jacket with a hood.
Last but not least, scarves, gloves and mittens are also great on those low temperature days. I would highly recommend at least wearing a scarf to keep our necks and faces warm. Gloves and mittens are not as popular, as Hong Kong doesn’t really get that cold.
That’s all for this episode of 2-minute English. I hope you’d learned lots about winter clothing, and of course, have a great day.
