1. Go in one ear and out the other

e.g. My repeated warnings to Mary went in one ear and out the other.
Mary

2.Take words like a passing wind

Take words like a passing wind
e.g. Mary took my words like a passing wind.

  • Words taken as a puff of wind
  • Words that pass by (somebody) like the idle air

3. Fallen on deaf ears/ Turn a deaf ear to

  • (某些說話)has fallen on deaf ears
  • (某人)turn(s) a deaf ear to (某些說話)

e.g. John turns a deaf ear to my advice.
John

4. Like water off a duck’s back

e.g. My good advice rolls off Mary like water off a duck’s back.
